Week 7: Primera semana en el campo.

Primera semana en el campo.

 It´s been crazy. We woke up last on tuesday at 3:30 for a 5 hour shaky car ride to Xela (quetzaltenango). We went straight to the temple and got assigned our companions. I was blessed with a gringo. It probably wont help my spanish too much but I think I probably would go insane if my first comp was latino. 

He´s super cool and this is his last transfer so I´m killing him. After we went through the temple and the one here is so beautiful. It was a super cool experience. Then we went to the chapel and got assigned our areas. I stayed in the same place. Los arcos. 

Everyone says it´s a really good area. Its in the middle of the city so we have mcdonalds and little ceasars, burger king, wendys, panda express and a store thats kinda like walmart. There were like 20 missionarys buying groceries there. everyone comes to our area on pday to get supplies. I havent had a chance to eat fast food because we keep getting fed so much. The food the members cook is actually pretty good. The problem is they give us so much food that i want to explode. 

Even though this is the "nice" area of xela, its not nice. All the houses and buildings are made out of concrete and are just really shabby. Even the people that you can tell have money live in some pretty sad houses. From the outside at least. It´s honestly not the prettiest place in the world (sorry mom). I guess its pretty in a sense that ive never experienced something like this and its humbling but yeah. Theres a volcano in the distance that looks pretty sick. 

The language is super hard. I dont understand a single thing thats being said. It´s really stressful because I´ll just be sitting there while my comp does all the talking. It´s like completely opposite of how I am. It will come though. Its hard to have faith but im just gonna keep grinding. 

I tried to send pictures but it didnt really work cuz the internet is trash and i have a million photos that are huge. Here are a few tho and I'll try to send more. Love you guys.
