Week 15 : We were walking when I saw a house and decided to touch it.

Ok this week also went by pretty fast feels weird but here’s what happened.

Tuesday was kinda normal. We had a cita with a lady that was kinda wild. She{s a member from our ward and she looks and acts like a classic voodoo magic bruja lady from like pirates of the caribbean or something like that. She told us her conversion story and it was crazy. She had all this crazy Lehi like dreams and the way she explained it was so interesting. She was like acting it out and shes like 75 and we were there for like an hour and a half.

Wednesday we had another Dia de Millenial. Where were supposed to get 15 new contacts. We didn’t have anybody for the entire day whereas the Hermanas had 15 in the first hour. In the last 2 hours we got 11 tho so that was still pretty cool.

Thursday was pretty awesome. We had a multizona and a seventy came. His name is Elder Ceballos and he’s in the area presidency for Central America. He looks exactly like Brother Fisher, it was weird. I never have to leave my area cuz the oficina is here and all the food and stores so I don’t have a lot of experience riding the buses, which is the main method of travel here. They’re litterally just school buses that I think they take from the states when they’re done using them. They make them look pretty cool though and paint them and put cool stuff on it. Some of them still say like alpine school district or something like that on it. Those are the big ones but also theres these little micro buses that are actually just vans that are taken from the junkyard with extra seats in them. They literally pack as many people as possible in them. So anyway the multizonas are out of our area cuz our capilla’s tiny so we woke up and went to catch a bus. The one we took was a microbus with I kid you not, 20-30 people were crammed in it. The guy just pointed through a mess of hands for me to grab something, so I did it and there was a handrail and then we just stood on the steps out side of the bus and just held on. Kinda crazy but kinda fun too. Anyway the multizona was really good even though I had no friends. I was able to understand almost everything which was super cool.

Friday we went and ate tortas with a member. Usually we can’t eat in the street cuz the people here are sick with their hygiene but this cart’s pretty much like a restaurant so its safe i thnk. They’re sandwiches with like tons of meat in it. Like ham, sausage, hotdogs and idk but they’re rico.

Saturday we had a talk with another member that told us his life story for an hour and a half and it was super cool and also sad he cried for a lot of it. Later we had a service project where we took all this wood that was in the shed of an hermana and cut it into pieces and reorganized it. It was super windy and super super dusty. All the guys were laughing at me cuz I had so much dust on me. They said I looked like my comp who’s very moreno. He’s black.

Anyway Domingo was very good. Church was good, the ward is awesome. One of our investigators is also an eternal investigator. The other date fell. Anyway he’s the son of the Obispo and his whole fam are miembros but he won’t baptize because he´s scared of his wife. He comes to church every week and looks like a membro but won’t  commit. We can’t have citas with him either. The only time we can is mondays at his parents house and we always only have a noche de hogar and just say something spiritual without necessarily talking about missionary stuff cuz the wife is there. So last week during church we had a talk with just him in church and it went pretty well. Talked about baptism and what not. This week I wanted to do them same in 2nd hour and talked to him and he said okay. I had this whole thing ready to put a fecha and then my comps were like nah lets just stay in elders quorum today. They think its better to wait until the wife wants get baptized too. But idk I probs dont have as much patience. Anywas after lunch we were walking and we climbed this huge hill that has a pretty cool view of the city. Not a super pretty view, but a pretty cool view nontheless. We saw this joven sitting on the stairs and decided to talk to him. He was super sad. Said his gf left him for another guy. Hate to see it happen. Anyway he’s only 17 and she broke up with him like 3 months ago but he still travels like 2 or 3 hours to come and sit at this spot (which really isnt the nicest spot) and just sit for a few minutes. It was super sad, he cried a lot. Anyway then we had a noche de hogar with the super cool familia in our ward, the familia Valasquez after was even cooler.

The active volcano Fuego in the distance

We didn't have really anything to do for the last hour of the noche but , w
e were walking to the house of a member to maybe talk or something when I saw a house and decided to touch it. The lady opened the little window thing and was talking on the phone so tbh kinda thought it was hopeless so I didnt do my normal intro. I just said hey dios sent us to leave an oracion in your home. Usually even if they say okay we have to like convince them to let us come in their house but she just said ok. She closed the window, opened the door, hung up the phone and said, “Pasen adelante” (come in) So we went in and she said that missionaries came once before and it was right when she needed it and that it was the same thing that night. She said when I said God sent us she thought it was pretty cool. Her husband died like 3 months earlier and she was having a lot of problems and uncertainty in her life. She was super nice and the spirit was super strong. She said we could come back in a few days.

Anyways I think thats it for this week. We were super busy all week. Even in the noches after 9 so I didnt write in my journal the whole week. So this is pretty much to make up for it. Well, I never know how to end these but I guess read the scriptures, pray and asistir a la iglesia.
