Week 17: My comp had to help me walk. Oh and its also hot here
All the bus rides that I missed in Los Arcos, Im making up for here. We travel so much its crazy. Weve hardly been in our area and it kinda sucks. Tuesday, we went to district meeting in a place thats like an hour and a half away. On the way the bus driver decided to eat breakfast for like half an hour and we ended up being late, so today we only got half a pday as punishment.
Anyway after my comp had to go to Guate (Ciudad) to do stuff with his passport. First he went to xela to stay a night then in the morning went to Guate and stayed another night and came back in the morning. I went on divisions in HueHue for these two days. It just so happened that the comp of Elder Fisher from the ccm also had to ir, so he begged the zone leaders to let me go on divisions with him instead of us going on divisions with the zl’s. They said yes so I went with my old pal. It was actually pretty chill.
So wednesday was dia de millenial, we started doing them twice a month. We started out the day with about like 5 (people that let us say a prayer with them). I met this one guy thats super cool and we actually talked a lot about our mensaje. He knows my area, Santa Ana super well which is weird cuz nobody in Guatemala knows about this town. But we kinda became buds. Anyway after we went home and did studies and after we went back out. From about 6 to 8 we racked up like 27 people. Which makes 32 all together. Which idk if you can see the significance, but the goal is usually 15. Plus, when we called the ZL’s that night they only got 8 and nobody else in the district met the goal. Probably a bad thing to be prideful about but I was pretty pumped. It was a pretty fun day.
Anyway the next day we made the long journey back and it sucked. The buses were extra bad today. I got car sick, and my comp was actually sick, so we didnt do anything for the rest of the day. Friday my comp was still sick but we were able to work for a bit. Saturday was super crazy and my comp was still feeling bad but he was a trooper and we made the trip to Nenton again. We got to ride in the back of the truck which was is always a good experience. But then we had to hustle back because we had a baptism. It wasnt our baptism, it was of the son of our rama president. Hes almost 9 but his dad, the president, forgot to baptise him. So we were working with him for a while to get him to do it. Anyway that was a good time.
Sunday was sad. Our best investigator didnt show up. Hes super chill. His name is Jose Carlos and hes like 25 and he has beatiful flowing hair that he puts in a bun that Im kinda jealous of. Hes the coach of a professional futbol team (granted, its like division 3 Guatemala) and they have games every sunday. He loves what we’re telling him, wants to be baptized but he wont come to church so idk what we gonna do. So anyway no we here.
Hopefully we wont have to travel a whole lot from now on. My comp said this change he’s travelled over 70 hours by bus. The buses are horrible. They fill them as much as possible and i can never move my legs. Saturday my legs were so numb at the end of a ride that i tried to stand up and my legs just gave out and i fell on top of the people and it was super awkward. My comp had to help me walk. Oh and its also hot here. But I do like this area a lot and Im having a lot of fun. Anyway love you all. Mostly.
