Week 18: We really out here.

We really out here.
Realmente estamos aca. The amount of times I have said that this week is quite a lot de verdad. So Tuesday we had a district meeting which was kinda lit cuz our lideres de zona brought me my package.

(Fun fact, I like receiving packages. Another fun fact my dms, or the dms of the oficina of my mission, are open.)

After that we one of our zone leaders came on divisions with us and it was pretty fun. But what was better was when I went on divisions with my district leader on Friday.
He lives in a place called Ical, about an hour and a half away. Its this village in the mountains. We caught a Flete or a pickup truck and there were like 20 people in the back so we just held on to a bar and stood on the bumper. The road was like straight up for like 10 minutes and it was lowkey a workout for the brazos. Then we got off and walked up this super steep hill until we got to this huge church. Like a really big nice church. One from like Xela at least just chillin on this mountain in the middle of nowhere.

I'll attach a pic but the  little houses on other side of the ravine, thats where we walked to go contact. Just walking up and down hills. It was really cool. I wouldn't classify it as jungle but it was pretty close and super pretty.
We had a cita with someone else that lived about as far but in the opposite direction from the chuso we like sprinted back and it kinda sucked. The sunset was super pretty though and from the church you can see the whole valley. A place called Ixtauachan and colo and all the mountains surrounding. It was cooler at night though because you could just see the scattered light because they aren't really cities, just houses scattered throughout the mountains and they looked like stars.
It was a super cool area, and I had a good time, but it would be a super hard area. Because everything's so hard to get to and nobody speaks Spanish. They all speak Mum. One of the many languages of Guatemala.

There are tons or dialects but Mum and Quiche are the main ones. They can be classified as languages I think and then theres like Chuj and Bopti which are just dialects I think pero, saber. The people that did speak Spanish didn't understand anything we talked about, which is super sad and hard to deal with. Cool experience though.

In the morning we caught a Flete all the way back to Santa Ana. Which was the best decision ever. Usually when we travel that far we just take the buses. But a guy pulled up and asked if we wanted a ride so of course we hopped in the back. That was probably the prettiest thing. Just driving through the canyon with the wind blowing. Sounds super cheesy, but it was awesome.
Sunday I got to talk to my madre because it was her birthday and that was kinda lit. I know everyones talkin basura back at home but Im quite fond of this new change.

So the change ends tomorrow so we got a call at 9 telling us who has changes and our ZLs hit us with that classic prank telling us we have changes but then saying jk. So we good. Im hyped. Me and Elder Hinckley are having a good time.

So we heard that there was a pretty cool waterfall in our area so today we ventured into the wilderness. Apparently there was a road that went all the way there but we just walked up the river for a few miles. There was no trail. At times it was a bit sketchy. We climbed over boulders and at times at to make a leap over the water but we ended up not finding the waterfall. Kinda disappointing. Really fun though. We really out here.
