Week 28: For dinner we ate a bowl of pumpkin seeds, but they weren't pumpkin seeds,
So this week was just a blink. I know I say that a lot but this week really just flew by.
Last Monday we went to Zaculeu. But after that, my comp had to go to a meeting with the other district leader in the zone so I went on divisions. We went to Ical. I went there about 2 or 3 months ago. It's the little mountain village. They don't have like anything there so we went to Colotenango to write. It was the slowest internet I've used here.
So I talked to my family and all that but I had to cut it short because I had the sudden urge to use the baƱo. I went in search for one because the internet didn't have one. Like it was bad. Without going into too many details, I ran across the city and almost didn't make it. But we did. Then we had to walk to Ical. So we started walking down the hill to the highway and there's like no houses. Right then I got the urge to go again and knew I couldn't make it to Ical so I said a quick oracion and turned the corner and the only house on the road was right there. The guy I was with told me they wouldn't be home and to just hold it but then they were home and merciful so pretty much… milagro. After we walked down we had to walk up. Usually theres fletes but tonight there weren't. It sucked. Imma send a pic of kinda how far I walked that day. But I think I walked more the next.
So the next day we started the day off by talking to a past contact these guys had. It was going well until I realized the unusual amount of Si, pues’s. Usually people they that at the end or like every sentence here but these people said it after every word. Every one we said. Because we found out, they don't know any Spanish at all. They don't know any. Everyone. And every house is a light year away. There's also no flat ground in the whole village except on church property. So it was a grind. Also food doesn't exist. For dinner we ate a bowl of pumpkin seeds, but they weren't pumpkin seeds, and tortilla. Super salty. The guy I was with has been there 4 months and has lost 70 pounds. The bright side is, I learned a bit of Mam.
Also the best thing that happened that day is we went to visit a fam and they were adding on to their roof. So I offered to help them out. We finished just in time too cuz out of nowhere it just poured. It rained so hard and it was awesome. So we stayed for a bit to let it pass. There were three kids that were awesome and loved me because I was a bit of a contrast.
The kids were awesome and they also spoke good Spanish because they're kids so that was fun. At night we played chess and I destroyed the man two games in a row and he was very shocked about it.
Wednesday we woke up at 5:30 to get to HueHue for the multizona. We had to get there early for interviews. I actually love interviews because Pres. Diaz is just such a good guy. I think I'm staying for another change in Santa Ana. Basically he told E. Hinckley prep your heart for changes and he asked me how Santa Ana is and I said good so that basically means I'm staying.
Multizonas are fun.
Thursday was a normal day.
Friday was normal too but, it was dia de la madre and a member invited us to their family lunch. She's the only member there and all the moms and old ladies loved us and we got a few referencias.
Saturday we had an emergency zone meeting in Colo. So we had to travel there. It took a lot out of the day. All of our citas fell too so that was rough. But all the soccer guys love us. We reactivated a kid and we committed a few kids to asistir tomorrow. Go to church.
Well no one showed up to church. We were pretty desanimadoed. Even the members didn't show. It was the lowest we've had since Ive been there. The one soccer kid we reactivated showed up tho, so that was a win. After we ate lunch and then called our Moms. Even though we talk every week we got to talk again for an hour and a half. It was really nice actually. Also my moms the greatest so I always love to talk to her. Right after that we had to go to HueHue. Again. The last bus leaves at 5:30 but it didn't show up til 6 and we had to catch the last bus to HH at 6:45 and its like a 45 min drive and our driver was super slow. Luckily that bus was late too so we made it to HH.
Monday we were supposed to have a huge multizone soccer tournament,
But it ended up just being a bunch of guys playing soccer. We weren't allowed to keep score so we wouldn't get too competitive and idk I feel like we could've done something a bit more fun. After though we went to dominos and I put down some pista. I spent some cash because it's not that often I get to eat good food.
Anyway buses are the worst and I think we´ll be done traveling a whole bunch until changes in two weeks.
Adios
