Week 41: August 19, 2019 : "We have to leave our places of comfort to reach our dreams"
Monday after writing we had a noche de hogar with the tres hermanitas that are eternal investigators. The oldest is named Abigail and she's super pilas she gave the lesson and the game.
Tuesday we didn't have district meeting because there was consejo de lideres. Presidente was lowkey mala onda and didn't let district leaders go. It was a consejo to put back all the rules they took out like 2 months ago. Coke lives on. We went to Chuisuc and tried to meet with a contact we made a while back. He was super excited to see us and invited us in. His whole family of 8 were all super interested in us. They wanted to know everything about us. It was pretty cool. Chuisucs pretty far away and it was getting dark but right as we were about to leave they made us dinner. They made us spaghetti. We had to eat it with our hands and there was a few hairs in my tortillas but it was alright. The youngest is 12 yo.
Wednesday we just contacted a whole lot.
Thursday we had district meeting. But it was really zone meeting. We talked about the new reglas and what not and also a bit of what p. Diaz had to say. It was pretty cool. It was about how we all have a promised land to get to and we all have to leave our comfort zone and travel through the desert to get there. But you can decide how long you're gonna stay there. The israelites wandered 40 aƱos, the nephites 8ish, the jaredites 5ish. Israelites lacked faith, the nephites lost guidance from iniquity and the jaredites forgot to call on the lord for 4 years. So we all have to leave our places of comfort and support our trials if we want to reach our dreams and become better people but we are able to manipulate how we manage those trials.
Friday we contacted a lot again. At night the jovenes had an actividad, the whole stake did it, where each ward presents a dance and a little act or skit. We only saw a little but it was pretty cool and a lot of people showed up.
Saturday was super tiring and we walked a lot and contacted again mucho. But the good part was at night we went to eat at this one place with my neighbor Albert. It like a hot dog place thats basically hotdog tortas. If you don't know what a torta is, look it up. But it was probably the best thing I've eaten in this country.
Sunday we had a pretty intense conversation with the dad of abigail. The whole time I've been here we've never been able to talk to him. We set citas and then he always leaves before we get there. So we had a cita at 4 but one of the members said he was at his house after church so we decided to go then instead. Then he left. We were super sad. So we went to lunch. As we were walking home we saw his car outside of his house so we hustled over there. He was working on his car and told us he didn't have time. We asked if we could just talk to him while he worked and he said ok. We told him his little girls wanted to be baptized and he was like no they dont. Two of them were with them and I was like wait I thought you wanted to be baptized and she was like no not really. So kinda mala onda but we were like Abagail really wants to and he said Ive never heard here say that. And then she came out. She's lowkey scared of her parents so I thought she was gonna back down. It started out rough because the dad kept saying she was gonna change her mind in a little while and it was like playing with God because she was baptized in a different church like a year ago. Then she bore the best testimony Ive ever heard. It was so awesome and the dad was just kinda stunned. It was silent for a bit and then he just said if you want to do it, go do it and if you change your mind that's your problem with God. It was pretty awesome and she was super happy. Later that day we met a family thats super awesome. The dad is 33 and the mom is 30 but they're super chill. We had like a 2 hr lesson with them. Which is lowkey kinda not good. But they're super pilas and asked all kinds of questions. Plus they live super close to the church. So we'll see where that goes. Also Jose destroyed his knee so he couldn't go to church. Satanas, dang it.
Today we did our district activity. We went bowling. It was pretty fun and after we ate pizza hut.
