Week 52: October 28, 2019 Orange pumpkins don't exist here

Well, a lot has happened this week but I'm probably only gonna remember like 2 percent of it all.

Tuesday, we had district meeting and we got a call in the middle of it from pres diaz calling with emergency cambios. It was super random because we saw p.d. The day before and he told my comp he would for sure have changes, but at the end of the change. So we sang himno 88, Spanish himno book, to say adios. Then we made a huge change of plans and just said goodbye to a lot of people. It was kinda sad tbh. There were a lot of tears.

Also apparently there was like a tropical storm or hurricane thing that hit close to us or algo asi and so we just got destroyed with rain. We were running all over the pueblo for like 3 hours. There was so much water. My feet were absolutely soaked. The roads were just rivers basically and it was not a fun time.

At night I got a call from the APs to tell me who my new comp would be. They just called because he's notoriously dead and lazy and they wanted to make sure I had a good attitude about it because president trusted me to babysit him pretty much. So I said ba.

We did the exchange in the morning and I received Elder Olmos. He has 19 months with 13 areas and 15 comps. That's a lot. He's from Panama but he speaks English very very well. But we mainly speak Spanish.

He's actually a buena onda and we get a long super well. Well enough. He also teaches really well. The only problem is he really likes to sleep. He also just wants to go home and he tells me that a lot. Idk it's an interesting situation. I showed him all the people we know.

Thursday we contacted un Monton.

Friday saber.

Saturday we had a lesson with the familia Xivir. 2 girls and their mom that speaks more Quiche than Spanish. They're super cool, they want to know what church is true, they always accept us, they read, but they don't go to church with us. We met their grandma who looks like Mama Coco and only speaks Quiche. She thought everything I said was hilarious and always called me el colocho, curly hair = colocho. They also kept saying mus acting like I didn't know that that means guapo. Anyway we basically got them to promise to come to church the next day. They didn't come though.

Sunday was pretty fun. They wanted me to give a talk to welcome me in the ward. It was fun. I think thats how long I've been out here. After church we went to eat with this one hermano way up on top of the mountain. It was the prettiest drive 'Ive been on. Way better than driving the canyon in Utah. Lo siento. But you could see everything cuz we were so high up. Then we went in deeper in the mountain and it turned into like jungle and then as we got higher up you couldn't see anything because of the fog. We ate lunch with them.

The hermano went mojado to the states or he went illegally. He got there, got baptized, came back and baptized his whole family and they've been active ever since.
After we had an activity w the stake high priests. They visited a bunch of menos activos and came with us to some citas we had. They went with one lady who they thought was inactive but turns out she never got baptized because shes not married with her novio that lives in the states. So that was kinda un milagro.

After that we went to the fam poz pocols house and made jack o'lanterns because of halloween and what not. Orange pumpkins don't exist here. They're all just green. It was almost impossible to carve, but we did it. Then they wanted us to dress up as them so we said Ba.

Monday we had our zone activity and it was actually pretty awesome. We went to the Marbles house, made breakfast burritos and watched How to Train Your Dragon 3. After that we cut our hair and went to write. But that's the gist of what happened this week.
