Weekly letter #60 or something like that.
Tuesday we had district meeting but it was different than normal. We spent the whole time practicing our skit for the multizona navidena this week. It's supposed to be about Harry Potter coming to the mission as Elder Potter. I've never been an HP fan but it is kinda funny. It's basically a bunch of inside jokes from the mission mixed with Harry Potter stuff. Like in one scene Harry Potter tries to contact dementors but they're really just testigos de jehova. It's gonna be pretty fun.
As for citas and visitas nothing too special has happened. We've been going with our investigator Dylan everyday. He's super cool.
He lived in Guate but got involved in a gang. They wanted him to kill someone and so he got kinda freaked out and left but then they tried to find him and kill him. So he moved to Hue Hue with his aunt and uncle and his family at home had to move to a different place. He had a crazy past but he's honestly the coolest guy. He's super shy and passive and even pretty feminine. I could never see him being in a gang. But he loves our lessons and he reads everyday.
On Wednesday we put a fecha for him on the 21st. We told him that we felt that he was ready. He still feels really guilty for all that he did before but he's really changed and we told him it was part of arrepentimiento. He was so happy and didn't know what to say. So he's super pumped. The only problem is he was a drug addict before and he hasn't really been able to do it here but somehow he was able to take something on Tuesday. He was super sad about it but were still gonna try to push for the 21. So keep him in your prayers because drug addiction is one of the hardest things to overcome.
Friday I went on divisions in Quilinco. Its literally right where I went for pday last week, the mirador. It's just a little aldea on the top of the mountain. Or should I say, on the side of the mountain, really high up. It's pretty crazy, it's been awhile since Ive been to a real aldea. Super pretty but its just hard to work. Just hiking up and downhill the whole day and the people don't understand anything. Even the members. Plus they didn't even speak a different language. Just Spanish, but I spoke better Spanish than most of them. But it was pretty cool. Theres also just these mayan ruins just kinda up there chillin. No government protection or touristy signs or anything. Just ancient broken pyramids in the midst of Guatemalans that think the spaniards made them. The hardest thing about teaching here is that nobody understands the culture and history here. For me it's awesome being in a place where an ancient book was written. To me it would be important that while the bible was written in Israel on the other side of the world, God would remember a lost people on this side of the world. But the people don't care. Nobody knows where Israel is, or even Africa. Even in like Hue Hue and Xela. On top of that nobody really feels a connection with the Maya. So thats been hard. But yeah so I did divisions with Elder Funk. He's pretty cool, we did some good work.
Sunday we went to the Christmas devotional. It was super good and made me miss temple square.
Monday we got together as a zone and played soccer and then practiced our skit a bit more.
